Getting Started adding External Calendars
Adding External Calendars
You can add external calendars to Booost to see all your events in one place, such as your academic timetable, personal calendar, or work calendar. Your Booost calendar will sync with external calendars; if events are updated externally, Booost will reflect those changes.
To add an external calendar you need to have access to a public link in a .ics or ical format.
How do I find my public calendar link and add an external calendar?
Instructions for to find the public link for different calendar types, and add them to Booost can be found here:
- How to connect an Outlook calendar
- How to connect an iCloud calendar

About Booost Calendars
Academic timetables
Currently, adding your academic calendar or timetable will only be successful if your school, college or university allows your timetable to be publicly shared. If your calendar is only available within your school, college or university’s timetable system or app, it cannot be accessed through Booost.
How to locate the public links for calendars you wish to import will vary between schools, colleges and universities. Some institutions will have information on their website on how to connect your timetable to your calendar, and we have specific instructions on different calendar services above.
Selecting a calendar type
When adding an external calendar to Booost, you will be asked to specify whether it is an academic or a personal calendar because Booost suggests checklists and related resources based on the type of event.
Academic calendar type
- If you choose the academic calendar option when connecting a calendar, all events within the calendar that you are connecting will be assigned the ‘lesson’ event type.
- The checklist related to attending a lesson, class or lecture will be shown when viewing these events, and the related resources will be those related to attending a lesson.
Personal calendar type
- If you choose the personal calendar option when connecting a calendar, all events within the calendar that you are connecting will be assigned the ‘social or personal’ event type.
- There is no pre-defined checklist linked to each event and the related resources are more general guides.
What can I do if I can’t add my calendar?
If you are having trouble adding your calendar, you can follow the troubleshooting below:
- If you have the link for your calendar, check it is in the correct format (ical or ending in .ics) and that the calendar is set as public.
- If you cannot find your calendar link, check the instructions for the type of calendar you are trying to add above.
- If you cannot find your calendar link, your school, college, or university may not allow for your academic calendar to be shared externally. You may need to get in touch with your timetabling, IT, or disability department for additional information specific to your institution.
- If you are still having trouble adding your calendar after this, you can get in touch with our Technical Support team to advise further.
